Steinbach RCMP have arrested and charged a male suspect in connection to a recent vehicle collision that occurred at a location on Centre Street South in Mitchell, Manitoba.
On December 20, 2023 at approximately 9:15am, Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision in Mitchell. Witnesses informed police that the driver and passenger of the vehicle had left the scene on foot.
Officers responded and were able to locate the male driver a short distance away. Police say that the driver refused to identify himself and was arrested on scene. A brief struggle ensued with police, but the man was successfully apprehended.
Police noted that the passenger of the vehicle was transported to hospital by Ambulance for pre-cautionary reason related to the collision.
RCMP report that Ryan Wiens is now facing charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, operation while impaired and refusal to provide a breath sample.
