The Manitoba government is accepting applications under the Newcomer Community Integration Support (NCIS) program, which provides financial support to projects that develop social and economic connections for newcomers.
“Organizations that provide settlement services are an important part of the newcomer experience,” said Labour and Immigration Minister Malaya Marcelino. “Our government is committed to supporting that work, which helps welcome newcomers to establish connections to culture, community and work.”
Financial support will be available under the newly renamed Manitoba Settlement Support Services, previously known as the newcomer community connections stream. Applications will be evaluated on the organization’s proven strengths, connection with the existing settlement service network and ability to improve inter-organizational co-operation and innovation in addressing population needs.
Projects funded by Manitoba Settlement Support Services will aim to complement the existing settlement service network and support newcomers who are often ineligible for federally funded settlement and integration services, noted the minister.
“Leaving your home country is never an easy decision and we welcome those who choose Manitoba as their new home. These types of settlement supports are important for that transition,” said Marcelino.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 16, 2024 at 6pm.
