Portage la Prairie RCMP are reporting that a quantity of drugs and firearms were recently seized after officers responded to a disturbance at a residence located on 5th Avenue NE in the community.
On January 23, 2024, at 8:20pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a local residence. Officers attended and were advised that a 31-year-old Winnipeg woman had been assaulted by a 53-year-old male from Portage la Prairie, who was then assaulted by a 37-year-old male from the RM of Portage la Prairie. Members noted that no injuries were reported.
Police say that the 37-year-old was placed under arrest and upon his search, a filleting knife, that had been tucked into his boot, was discovered. The 53-year-old was also placed under arrest and a small quantity of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, was found on his person.
As a result of this investigation, officers with the Portage la Prairie RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS), along with officers from the Portage Detachment, executed a search warrant at this residence and seized an additional quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, several weapons and drug related paraphernalia.
RCMP report that 37-year-old Rambo Roulette, along with 53-year-old Jeremy Whincup, were remanded into custody on numerous drug and firearms related charges related to this incident.
