Portage la Prairie RCMP are reporting that a 14-year-old male youth was recently arrested and charged in connection to an assault incident that occurred in the community.
On February 3, 2024, at approximately 8:20pm, RCMP responded to an assault incident at Stride Place arena in Portage la Prairie.
Police were informed that an altercation occurred between several youths who were using bear spray. There were no reported injuries, however a number of spectators had to leave the arena due to the contamination of the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, two males were arrested but were later released with no charges. Further investigation led officers to identify a male suspect who was later arrested on February 5, 2024.
RCMP report that a 14-year-old male youth is now facing charges of assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.
