RCMP Major Crime Services are reporting that a 28-year-old Steinbach man was recently arrested and charged in connection to a homicide that occurred in Emerson, Manitoba.
On March 1, 2024, at approximately 7:35 pm, Emerson RCMP received a report of a deceased male inside a residence located on 2nd Street in Emerson, Manitoba. Officers attended the scene and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide. Officers noted that the deceased was the resident of the home.
RCMP Major Crime Services investigators responded to Emerson. Investigation quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety.
Police determined that the victim and suspect were known to each other.
RCMP report that on March 3, 2024, 28-year-old Ryan Wiens, of Steinbach, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. Wiens was remanded into custody with a scheduled court appearance.
