Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a 16-year-old male youth has been charged and fined under the Highway Traffic Act after police discovered multiple videos of the youth committing driving offences.
On February 20, 2024, Steinbach RCMP were made aware of an Instagram video circulating showing a white Dodge Caravan driving carelessly. The video showed the vehicle drifting across multiple lanes of traffic on Highway 52 and other locations in and around the Steinbach area.
Police investigated the incident and found six more videos showing the driver breaking several laws under the Highway Traffic Act.
Officers were able to identify the driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old male youth from Linden MB. It was noted that the youth only had a Class 5 learner’s license.
RCMP report that the driver was charged with a $672 fine for driving carelessly under the Highway Traffic Act. The youth will also require a license review with Manitoba Public Insurance.
