Lac du Bonnet RCMP are currently investigating a fatal incident in the Whiteshell Provincial Park after recently responding to a kayaker in distress.
On May 12, 2017, at approximately 8:20pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a kayaker in distress at Nutamik Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. When RCMP arrived on scene, an officer went out with a Conservation Officer on a boat patrol and headed to the spot where witnesses had heard the kayaker in distress.
Police say that the officers went to the base of the Sturgeon Falls, going into Nutamik Lake and located a 59-year-old male deceased in the water.
RCMP report that the man from Keewatin, Ontario, was wearing a life jacket and that there were no signs of foul play.
