Selkirk RCMP are reporting that a serious vehicle collision has claimed the life of an 86-year-old man. The recent incident occurred on Main Street in the community.
While on patrol, RCMP members came across a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lane of Main Street in Selkirk.
Investigation determined that a vehicle pulled out of a parking lot onto Main Street, colliding with a northbound vehicle traveling on the roadway. RCMP say that the first vehicle had three occupants and the second vehicle had a driver and lone occupant from the RM of St. Andrews.
Officers noted that the 86-year-old male front seat passenger of the first vehicle was the only one injured. The man was transported to Winnipeg hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police say that 82-year-old female driver, 54-year-old male backseat passenger, as well as a 17-year-old male driver of the other vehicle were all checked and didn’t require further treatment.
RCMP believe that the male victim died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
