On May 20, 2024, at approximately 4:45pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a black bear in the area of Biscayne Drive and Alderwood Crescent in the community.
Prior to the RCMP’s arrival, several more calls came in advising that the bear was now at the Steinbach Regional Secondary School.
RCMP were able to locate the bear and attempted to escort the animal out of town. Unfortunately, due to the heavy pedestrian traffic and behaviour of the bear, it had to be put down.
Manitoba Conversation was advised and assisted with the removal of the bear.
