A Winnipeg woman has died after her motorcycle was struck by a gravel truck on the West Perimeter Highway.
On May 26, 2017, at approximately 5:20pm, RCMP Traffic Services unit out of Headingley responded to the West Perimeter Highway between Portage Avenue and Roblin Boulevard for a report of a collision between a motorcycle and gravel truck.
Early police investigation has revealed that the motorcycle, operated by a 54-year-old Winnipeg woman, was merging southbound onto the Perimeter Highway from Portage Avenue when she lost control of her motorcycle and was struck by a gravel truck. The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 55-year-old driver of the gravel truck, from Carman, was not injured.
RCMP report that alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the collision. Officers from the Headingley Traffic Services Unit along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
