The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has concluded its investigation into an allegation of assault by an on-duty RCMP officer in The Pas against an individual on September 29, 2023.
During the incident, the officer was alleged to have used force to detain an adult female while responding to a domestic incident at a residence in The Pas. Following the completion of the investigation, the civilian director determined that Criminal Code charges should be laid against the officer.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP officer Const. Kyle Kruzer was released on a summons July 23. He has been charged with one count of assault contrary to Sec. 266 of the Criminal Code.
The IIU issued a news release on October 5, 2023, advising it had launched an investigation into the incident.
