On August 3, 2024, at approximately 11:30am, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and motorcycle. The incident occurred on Highway 3, between Road 26N and 27N in the RM of Roland.
Police investigation determined that the SUV was traveling north on Highway 3, when it attempted to pass a vehicle by pulling into the oncoming lane. At the same time, a motorcycle was approaching traveling south. Both drivers swerved to the same shoulder to avoid the collision, and subsequently collided head-on.
Members noted that a passer-by stopped to assist the injured driver of the motorcycle.
RCMP report that the driver of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old male from Schoenwiesse, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV, a 20-year-old female, suffered no physical injuries.
Pembina Valley RCMP, along with a RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate this incident.
