Steinbach RCMP are reporting that both a motorcycle rider and cyclist were recently injured as the result of a collision that occurred at a crosswalk on Brandt Street.
On August 13, 2024, just after 5pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and bicycle. Officers had been told that the cyclist that had been using the crosswalk located near the intersection of First Street and Brandt Street at the time of the incident.
Steinbach RCMP and EMS responded to the scene and closed Brandt Street south for approximately 35 minutes to allow for the investigation.
RCMP spoke to eye witnesses and learned that the pedestrian lights at the crosswalk had been activated at the time of the collision. Police say that both the cyclist and motorcycle rider were transported to hospital due to their injuries.
The RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the Criminal Collision Investigation Team were consulted.
Police say that dangerous driving appears to be a factor in this incident.
