The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) are currently investigating the actions of the Brandon Police Service involving an arrest in June of 2023.
On August 19, 2024, the Brandon Police Service notified the IIU of a complaint received on August 16.
The complaint was made by an adult male arrested on June 15, 2023. The male claims he was assaulted by an officer during the arrest and cruiser car video later provided to the male through a Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) request was tampered with and cut short.
The civilian director of the IIU has determined it is in the public interest to investigate.
