Manitoba RCMP are reporting that two individuals were recently arrested and charged after a traffic stop in the Rural Municipality of Woodlands resulted in the seizure of a number of firearms, as well as a quantity of drugs and cash.
RCMP Traffic Services recently conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 6 in the RM of Woodlands. Investigation led to the arrests of the driver and passenger and a subsequent search of their persons and vehicle.
As a result of the search, officers seized a loaded handgun, rifle, ammunition, suspected crack cocaine and heroin individually bagged, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency and other drug paraphernalia.
RCMP report that 24-year-old Nicholas Durack, of Brandon, was charged with over 20 weapon and drug offences. He was also wanted on two warrants out of Brandon and was breaching several conditions on a release order.
Police noted that 43-year-old Diane Woodhouse, of Pinaymootang First Nation, was charged with eight weapon and drug offences.
Members say that both individuals were remanded into custody.
