A 23-year-old male suspect was recently shot by RCMP in connection to an assault incident that occurred at a residence located in the Rural Municipality of Macdonald, Manitoba.
On September 4, 2024, at approximately 9:10pm, Stonewall/Headingley RCMP were called to a report of an assault and disturbance in the RM of Macdonald. Information received indicated that a 23-year-old male had assaulted a female inside the home and attempted to light several vehicles on fire.
Officers arrived on scene and were confronted by the 23-year-old male suspect who was armed with an edged weapon. The confrontation led to an officer discharging their firearm.
RCMP report that the suspect, who sustained a gunshot injury, was taken into custody and was provided immediate medical attention by the officers. The male suspect was subsequently transported to hospital by ambulance in stable condition. He has since been released and is back in police custody where he remains.
Members noted that no other injuries were reported and that the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has taken carriage of the investigation.
