Portage la Prairie RCMP are reporting that three suspects have been arrested and charged in connection to five robberies that occurred within several hours of each other in the community.
On September 5, 2024, within several hours, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to five thefts/robberies at businesses located in the community. All incidents reported noted that the suspects were acting violently and erratically.
Investigation determined that two male suspects and one female suspect were involved. In many instances, employees were threatened or assaulted during the theft. In one incident, a Community Safety Officer(CSO) was assaulted when an attempt was made to arrest the suspects.
Video surveillance was obtained and officers were able to identify the suspects.
Police say that all suspects were located and arrested. All three individuals were from Long Plain First Nation.
RCMP report that 21-year-old Koby Daniels, 23-year-old Shoughn Perswain, along with a 38-year-old female are all facing numerous charges in connection to these incidents.
Officers noted that the employees and CSO received minor physical injurie, but did not require medical assistance.
