Red River Mutual was proud to sponsor the 10th annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day which was held at the Millennium Exhibition Centre in Altona, Manitoba on Friday, May 26, 2017.
As part of Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, 150 Grade 5 students from across the Pembina Valley learned how to stay safe by participating in interactive demonstrations at 11 different safety stations. The students went through the Red River Mutual Firefighters’ Burn Fund Safety Trailer and learned about fire safety in the kitchen, fireplace safety, fire escape planning, checking for safe exit routes, and knowing two ways out.
“Red River Mutual takes a very proactive role in the community to teach young people about fire safety,” said Lonny Peters Loewen, Loss Prevention Coordinator at Red River Mutual. “We’ve seen far too often the tragic losses that can occur without proper safety equipment and education in place.”
