The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has concluded a recent investigation into allegations of breach of trust. As a result, three Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) officers have been charged.
On May 7, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) notified the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU), of an allegation of breach of trust by one of its members. The IIU assumed jurisdiction of the investigation and requested the assistance of the WPS Professional Standards Unit to conduct the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, three police officers were charged on November 6, 2024.
Constable Elston Bostock, 47 yrs, is charged with:
- Breach of Trust x 4
- Unlawfully in Dwelling House
- Obstruct Police Officer
- Obstruct Justice x 2
- Theft Under $5,000
Constable Matthew Kadyniuk, 32 yrs, is charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Breach of Trust
Constable Jonathan Kiazyk, 46 yrs, is charged with:
- Breach of Trust
- Obstruct Police Officer
- Unlawfully in Dwelling House
The three members were released on undertakings and have been placed on administrative leave.
