During a recent traffic stop in Russell, Manitoba, RCMP seized a quantity of illegal prescription drugs and unstamped cigarettes. The incident resulted in the arrest of two suspects.

Russell RCMP say that when speaking with the male driver of the suspect vehicle, the responding officer noticed a package of unstamped cigarettes in the passenger side door. As a result of searching the vehicle, additional illegal prescription drugs were located.

Police say that both passengers of the vehicle, 46-year-old Steven Jarvis, along with a 36-year-old female passenger, were arrested on scene.

During the arresting process, the arresting officer observed the male trying to destroy evidence. Subsequently, both Jarvis and the female were remanded into custody.

RCMP report that Steven Jarvis was charged with trafficking, possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. The female was charged with two counts of trafficking.
