A 23-year-old Gimli man is facing numerous firearms related charges after he shot a local RCMP member during a disturbance incident at a residence located in the community.
Gimli RCMP recently responded to a disturbance incident at a residence located on 4th Avenue in the community. When officers arrived on scene, they were advised that a 23-year-old male was in one of the back rooms of the residence and needed to be removed.
Officers entered the room and discovered two males, one of them pointing a black pistol with the laser pointer activated. The male suspect holding the firearm was subsequently ordered to drop the weapon, at which point a scuffle broke out between the two suspects over the firearm.
