A 33-year-old male suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to a firearms incident where a weapon was fired at the Thompson General Hospital.

Thompson RCMP recently responded to a report of a firearm being discharged in the chapel at the Thompson General Hospital. Officers responded immediately and when they arrived on scene, discovered that hospital security personnel had detained a lone male suspect.

Police say that during the investigation, officers discovered a hole in the window of the chapel that was produced from a firearm. Members noted that ammunition was also found on the floor and that the weapon used in the incident was located and seized.

There were no injuries reported as the result of discharging of the firearm.

RCMP report that 33-year-old Russell Hyslop, from Thompson, was arrested in connection to this incident. Hyslop is now facing numerous charges, including discharge of a firearm while being reckless and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a license.
