A 16-month-old male child was recently taken to a Winnipeg hospital due to being assaulted by a parent in Lake Manitoba First Nation.
Lundar and Ashern RCMP recently received an assistance request from EMS regarding a report of an unconscious 16-month-old male child at a home located in Lake Manitoba First Nation.
Officers responded to the scene and were advised that the child was suffering from severe injuries consistent with being assaulted.
RCMP report that the 19-year-old mother of the child, from Lake Manitoba First Nation, was arrested on scene.
Police say that the child was transported to hospital in Winnipeg where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The accused will not be identified as a means of protecting the identity of the victim.
