Manitoba RCMP Roving Traffic Unit are reporting that four suspects were recently arrested and charged resulting from a traffic stop that led to a prohibited weapons seizure.
On January 27, 2025, at approximately 5pm, officers from the Manitoba RCMP Roving Traffic unit conducted a traffic stop at a location on Highway 6, approximately 75 kilometres north of Grand Rapids, Manitoba.
Police say that an SUV with four occupants was traveling south on Highway 6 at a high rate of speed when it was pulled over. Investigation led officers to search the vehicle where they located a Glock 27, .40 caliber hand gun, and a loaded Glock 9 mm magazine.
RCMP report that all occupants of the vehicle were arrested for unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon. One of the rear seat occupants, a 17-year-old male, had pending weapons trafficking charges and was remanded into custody.
Also facing charges in connection to this incident was 37-year-old Dustin Thorsteinson, 28-year-old Curtis Richard, and 18-year-old Lucy Courchene. All suspects are from Winnipeg and were released for a later court date in Grand Rapids.
