A 28-year-old Winnipeg man is dead after being involved in a recent head-on collision near Sanford, Manitoba.
On June 21, 2017, at approximately 6:40am, Headingley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3, five kilometres north of Sanford in the RM of Macdonald.
Police investigators believe that a northbound car, being driven by a 28-year-old Winnipeg man, veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-trailer.
RCMP report that the driver of the northbound car was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are unsure at this time if the drvier was wearing a seatbelt or if alcohol was a factor in the incident. The driver of the semi-trailer, a 46-year-old Winnipeg man, was not injured in this incident.
Officers from the Headingley Detachment along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
