According to a recent survey, conducted this past January and February by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada (CCEC), Manitoba Chambers are Canada’s membership champions with the Steinbach Chamber marked as the second fastest growing Chamber in Canada with more than 500 members.
“These survey results provide statistical evidence that points right back to the good things happening in our business community,” said Executive Director, Tessa Masi. “The Steinbach Chamber works hard to create meaningful events and conversations that provide new and existing members with opportunities to add their collective voices to local, provincial, and federal platforms.”
“I am excited to announce CCEC’s first annual ranking of Canada’s fastest growing Chambers of Commerce. Congratulations to these leading Chambers and their dedicated staff whose persistence and passion are uniting business communities across Canada,” said Becky Davison, President of CCEC. “It’s inspiring to see such strong membership retention and widespread membership growth across the Chamber Network. We look forward to building on this momentum throughout 2025 as we continue providing professional development and networking opportunities for Chambers”.
The survey found that 77.8% of Chambers in Manitoba reported membership growth, more than any other region in Canada, and Manitoba Chambers also reported the highest membership retention rate (95.7%).
One hundred Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade completed the survey, which found:
- 69% of Chambers experienced membership growth in 2024, up from 60.8% in 2023
- While there is an increase in the number of Chambers reporting a declining membership (26%), the average decrease in membership has shrunk to 2.9%
- The national average membership retention rate is 92.1%, up from 88.8% in 2023
The research report also includes the first annual ranking of Canada’s fastest growing Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade, in which Steinbach Chamber ranked second in Canada with a membership growth rate of 16%.
