RCMP are reporting that a 27-year-old man has died as the result of a recent single vehicle rollover that occurred at a location on Highway 12 near Steinbach.
On March 26, 2025, at 6:20am, a Steinbach RCMP officer, traveling on Highway 12, observed a vehicle rolled over in the southbound ditch. As he stopped at the scene to investigate, a passerby also stopped and advised the officer that he had observed someone attempting to remove a person from the vehicle before that person fled on foot.
Police say that the 27-year-old male passenger was located with life-threatening injuries. The man was subsequently transported to hospital via STARS Air Ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.
With the assistance of Police Dog Services and a drone, officers located the suspected driver a short distance away. The suspect, a 31-year-old male from the RM of Tache, was arrested without incident and taken into custody.
