Motorists are reminded to adjust their driving for winter road conditions and to heed highway closures and travel warnings as snowfall with reduced visibility and localized blowing snow arrives.

Heavy and rapidly accumulating snowfall is expected in parts of western and southcentral Manitoba, affecting areas from east of Brandon to Winnipeg, and north of Steinbach.

Motorists should exercise caution as travel conditions will deteriorate starting tonight and will remain poor throughout the day Friday. Visibility will be significantly reduced due to heavy snowfall and localized blowing snow with a total accumulation of 20 to 30 centimetres of fresh snow expected in portions of southern Manitoba by Friday evening.

Motorists should not attempt to pass a snowplow at any time while it is in operation and should slow down when passing approaching snowplows. All equipment operates with flashing blue warning lights and drivers should stay well back of snow removal crews.

Travelers should always check manitoba511.ca for current road conditions prior to making the decision to travel.
