A recent head-on collision between a van and a semi-truck has resulted in the death of a man from the RM of Westlake-Gladstone.
On June 25, 2017, at approximately 1:30pm, Amaranth RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 16 at road 54 West.
Initial police investigation has determined that a southbound on Highway 16, a single-lane highway, attempted to pass a vehicle. As a result, the van collided head-on with a northbound semi-truck which was pulling two trailers.
Police say that the driver of the van, a 23-year-old-man from the RM of Westlake-Gladstone, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
RCMP report that speed is being considered a factor in this collision.
