Steinbach RCMP are reporting that an 18-year-old driver from the community received a large ticket and Serious Offense Notice after driving 73 kph over the posted speed limit.
On March 27, 2025, at approximately 2am, Steinbach RCMP were conducting proactive speed enforcement in the community. Police say that during this time, a vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old male from Steinbach, was stopped for traveling 123 kph in a 50 kph zone.
RCMP report that the driver was subsequently charged and given a $1,006 ticket and a Serious Offense Notice. Officers explained that after receiving a Serious Offense Notice, drivers are given five business days to contact MPI to schedule a Show Cause Hearing.
Members also noted that the driver received a ticket for failing to have a supervising driver in the vehicle.
