At approximately 5:30pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017, Headingley RCMP and Headingley Traffic Services responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 3, just south of Brunkild, Manitoba.
Initial police investigation determined that a southbound vehicle struck the shoulder, over-corrected and went into oncoming traffic, striking a northbound vehicle as a result.
Police say that the driver of the northbound vehicle, a 43-year-old Winkler man, was transported to hospital. His 45-year-old female passenger, from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased on scene. The 17-year-old female driver of the southbound vehicle, along with three other female occupants, ages 38, 11 and 13, were transported to hospital in serious condition. All were from Morden, Manitoba.
RCMP report that EMS from Carman, Boundary Trails, Morris, Oak Bluff and Elie responded along with STARS Air Ambulance and the Fire Departments from RM Macdonald and several other communities.
