A 23-year-old Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation man has been charged with second degree murder in relation to an ongoing police investigation involving the discovery of human remains.
At approximately 12pm on July 1, 2017, Roblin RCMP responded to a report of the discovery of human remains on Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation. Investigators from the RCMP Major and Serious Crime Units as well as Forensics Identification Services assisted with the investigation.
RCMP Major Crime Services have since identified the remains found on Tootinaowaziibeng First Nation. The remains are those of a 44-year-old adult male from the community. Investigation determined that the man died on June 21, 2017. The victim had not been reported missing.
RCMP report that 23-year-old Rylan McKay of Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation has been charged with second degree murder.
Police say that the victim and McKay were known to each other.
