At approximately 8:30pm on August 14, 2016, Carberry RCMP responded to reports of a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 1.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that a vehicle, heading north on Highway 5, attempted to cross Highway 1 when it struck a semi truck. The northbound vehicle ignited and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
RCMP report that the identification of the driver of the vehicle is pending and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
