A Napinka, Manitoba man is facing attempted murder charges after being arrested by police in connection to an ongoing investigation.
On July 21, 2017, just after 9pm, Blue Hills RCMP received a gun complaint. When officers attended a residence on 6th Street in Elgin, Manitoba, they learned that an altercation had occurred between two 19-year-old males outside of the residence.
Police determined that after the altercation, one of the men left the area, returned a short while later with a firearm and shot at the other man. The victim was able to get inside a home to safety and no further shots were fired. Investigation then led officers to a residence a few doors down from where the altercation took place.
RCMP report that 19-year-old Mitchell Ratcliffe of Napinka, Manitoba, was arrested without incident approximately an hour after the incident occurred and charged with numerous Criminal Code offences. On July 22, a search of the residence where Ratcliffe was staying resulted in officers finding and seizing a firearm. On July 28, in consultation with Manitoba Justice, Mitchell Ratcliffe was also charged with attempted murder.
