Falcon Beach RCMP are investigating the death of a Winnipeg man after responding to a report of a man who disappeared under water in Caddy Lake after going for a swim.
On August 20, 2016, at approximately 3:30am, Falcon Beach RCMP received a report of an adult male, a 26-year-old Winnipeg man, who had jumped off a dock on Caddy Lake to go for a swim. The man then swam for a short distance and began to struggle. After disappearing under water, the man did not resurface.
Both the RCMP and the South East Whiteshell Fire Department attended the scene. Upon arrival, officers observed emergency personnel performing CPR on the man. CPR was continued as he was transported to a local hospital.
RCMP report that on the same morning, the 26-year-old Winnipeg man was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. An autopsy has been scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
Police continue to investigate this incident. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
