On October 20, 2017, at approximately 10:50am, Blue Hills RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Road 117 West, between the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 1A in the RM of Whitehead.
Police say that a southbound semi trailer on Road 117 West was slowing down to turn into a driveway when it was struck from behind by a van.
RCMP report that the 59-year-old male driver of the semi trailer, from the RM of Riverdale, was not injured. The 31-year-old male driver of the van, from Brandon, was pronounced deceased on scene.
Alcohol and seatbelts are not considered factors in this collision and an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
