The RBC Player of the Month for October is forward Bradley Schoonbaert of the Steinbach Pistons. 20-year-old Schoonbaert tallied 33 points (15-18) in 16 games. The native of Brandon is currently leading the MJHL scoring race.
The runners-up are 19-year-old forward Connor Barley of the Selkirk Steelers and 20-year-old forward Matt Christian of the Winkler Flyers.
Sher-Wood-MJHL Defenceman of the Month
The Sher-wood Defenceman of the month is 19-year-old Darby Gula of the Steinbach Pistons. In addition to being solid on the blueline, he showed his offensive flare with 20 points (3-17) in 16 games.
The runners-up are 19-year-old Tristen Cross of the Virden Oil Capitals and 20-year-old Mackenzie Dwyer of the Portage Terriers.
MGEU-MJHL Goaltender of the Month
The MGEU Goaltender of the Month Troy Martyniuk of the Winkler Flyers. The 20-year-old Winnipegger posted an impressive 9-3 record, highlighted by two shutouts. His GAA is 2.08, with an outstanding save percentage of .931.
The runners-up are 18-year-old Matthew Radomsky of the Steinbach Pistons and 20-year-old Hayden Dola of the Selkirk Steelers.
IBAM-MJHL Rookie of the Month
The IBAM Rookie of the month is 17-year-old Justin Lee of the Virden Oil Capitals. The rookie blueliner from Waskada, MB, played in all key situations and tallied 13 points (211) in 14 games.
The runners-up are 18-year-old forward Austin Heidemann of the Steinbach Pistons and 18-year-old forward James Maxwell of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
Manitoba Pork Peak Performer of the Month
The Manitoba Pork Peak Performer of the Month is 20-year-old forward Jordan Martin of the Neepawa Natives. A four-year veteran of the Native, “Marty” has always been an ambassador for the program and the league. He regularly volunteers to help with residents in Neepawa’s Country Meadows Seniors Residence. Martin has been on the ice helping with minor hockey practices and helps out with Breakfast Club minor hockey skill development.
Martin, who hails from Winnipeg, is employed by Hylife in Neepawa where he oversees two other Neepawa players. Jordan is an assistant captain for the club for the second year, and has started the season off well with 15 points (4-11).
