On November 26, at approximately 11pm, Stonewall RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 at Road 79 North in the RM of Woodlands.
Initial police investigation determined that a car, driven by a 35-year-old male from the RM of Portage la Prairie, was driving north on Highway 6 when it went into oncoming traffic and struck a southbound semi truck carrying lumber.
Police say that the impact of the collision caused the semi driver to lose control and role his vehicle into the ditch, scattering lumber across the highway. The driver of the semi, a 43-year-old male, as well as his two passengers, a 42-year-old female and 1-year-old male infant, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
RCMP report that the driver and lone occupant of the car, was pronounced deceased on scene. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
