Between the evening of November 23 and the morning of November 24, 2017, Thompson RCMP responded to multiple reports of an armed male.

Police say that at approximately 9pm, on November 23, a male youth was removed from a hotel bar in Thompson. As he was being removed, he threatened employees that he was going to return with a weapon and shoot-up the establishment. Bar employees notified the RCMP and officers quickly responded.

Shortly afterwards, on the same evening, a taxi with its emergency beacon activated, entered the Thompson RCMP detachment parking lot. The taxi driver informed responding officers that as he was picking up customers, a male youth approached his taxi with a gun, threatened to shoot him then shot at the taxi. The driver immediately fled and made his way towards the RCMP detachment for safety.

A few minutes later, Thompson RCMP received a report that a female had just been robbed at gun point and that a vehicle parked at a local school had been shot with what appeared to be pellets from a BB gun.

RCMP report that all available officers began patrolling the area for the suspect. Local businesses were asked to keep their doors locked and the Thompson hospital was put in lock down. In the early morning hours of Friday, November 24, the investigation led officers to a residence in Thompson where a pellet gun rifle was located. As a result, a 16-year-old male youth was also located at the residence and arrested without incident. He has been charged with robbery with firearm and uttering threats against a person.
