The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) brought its annual Generating Momentum Conference to Altona, MB and 46 students from five schools in the Hanover and Border Land School Divisions attended the daylong conference at the Millennium Exhibition Centre.
MCIC’s annual Generating Momentum Conference focused on the theme “Interconnected – Life on Land”. Students explored why should they protect, restore and promote sustainable land use around the world.
Generating Momentum is an annual youth conference held in school divisions across the province that engages and empowers students to take action on social justice issues. The daylong event features interactive activities and discussions about global issues, followed by creative workshops that help students move through the stages of organizing their own take action activities at school or in their community.
Generating Momentum helps young people become aware of local and global issues, builds their leadership skills and equips them with the tools to take positive action. These conferences are made possible through funding from Global Affairs Canada.
