A 19-year-old Saskatchewan man is facing numerous charges after using a fire extinguisher as a weapon in two robbery incidents that recently occurred in Flin Flon, Manitoba.
On January 22, 2018, at approximately 6:20pm, Flin Flon RCMP received a report of an assault on an employee at a business located on Hapnot Street in Flin Flon, Manitoba. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a female employee who had been sprayed in the face with a fire extinguisher by a male who was stealing a bottle of liquor. As the officers were speaking with the victim, a new report came in from a nearby business on Main Street. A female employee at that location was also sprayed in the face with a fire extinguisher by a male who proceeded to steal cigarettes.
Police say that neither of the victims were injured.
RCMP investigation led officers to a residence in Flin Flon that same evening and as a result, 19-year-old Darnell Custer from Denare Beach, SK, was arrested. Custer is facing numerous charges including robbery and assault with a weapon. He remains in custody.
