As a result of two recent searches in Thompson, Manitoba, a quantity of drugs and currency was seized by local RCMP.
During the morning hours of January 24, 2018, Thompson RCMP executed a search warrant under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence located on Wolf Street in Thompson, Manitoba.
During the search, police located and seized 18 grams of cocaine, over 300 grams of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia and a quantity of Canadian currency. As a result, police arrested an 18-year-old male resident of Thompson who will be facing multiple drug related charges.
The following day, officers executed another search warrant at a residence located on Red River Drive in Thompson. This search yielded another 26 grams of cocaine, 280 grams of marijuana, and various drug paraphernalia.
RCMP report that a 16-year-old male youth was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. He is also facing multiple drug related charges.
“Since early November, the RCMP have executed 15 separate search warrants in Thompson,” said Inspector Kevin Lewis, Officer in Charge of the Thompson RCMP. “We have removed over 1500 grams of cocaine, over 2700 grams of marijuana and approximately 28 grams of cannabis resin from the community. In addition, 18 people have been charged with various drug offences.”
