As part of a lengthy police investigation, Elgin Brent Penner, a 28-year-old Steinbach man, is facing multiple sexual-related offences.
On June 1, 2017, 28-year-old Elgin Penner, also known as Radek, a resident from Landmark, was charged by Steinbach RCMP with failing to comply with an undertaking related to a charge of sexual assault which had occurred in May, 2017.
Steinbach RCMP began an investigation, and pro-actively sought out additional victims.
RCMP report that Elgin Penner is now facing numerous charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual invitation to touching, luring a minor, indecent exposure, making child pornography, indecent phone calls, trafficking marijuana, uttering threats, failing to comply with a recognizance and failing to comply with an undertaking. Penner was remanded in custody.
Police say that on February 28, 2018, Penner was released from custody on stringent conditions which include that he is on an absolute curfew (must be home) unless with his parents and he cannot be alone with anyone under the age of 18.
This investigation is still continuing and additional charges are forth coming. Police believe there are further victims and are asking anyone that may have any information to please contact the Steinbach RCMP detachment at 204-326-4452.
