A 37-year-old Mitchell, Manitoba man is facing numerous charges in connection to a series of gas theft incidents that occurred at a number of local gas stations.
On January 25, 2018, Steinbach RCMP issued a request to the public for assistance in identifying a male involved with numerous incidents of theft of gas from local gas stations.
RCMP report that on February 19, 2018, 37-year-old Douglas Peter Smith of Mitchell, Manitoba, was located and has been charged with seven counts of theft, five counts of possessing goods obtained by crime, two counts of breaching probation and two counts of breaching his recognizance.
Police say that Smith was also arrested related to charges pending in the City of Winnipeg.
Douglas Smith was remanded in custody. Investigation is continuing and further charges are anticipated.
