Steinbach RCMP have an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Micheal Renz in connection to a number of copper wire theft incidents that occurred at a local MTS compound.

On December 28, 2017, RCMP officers were dispatched to the property of an MTS compound where two males were caught in the act of breaking in.

Police say that one male, 42-year-old Jeffrey Carlson of La Broquerie, was arrested at the scene. The other suspect, 28-year-old Micheal Renz of Steinbach, fled the scene but was arrested after a short foot pursuit by officers. Police noted that a quantity of copper was recovered in the suspect vehicle.

RCMP report that Renz was also charged with a previous break and enter to the same MTS compound which occurred on December 12, 2017. At the time, he was on a previous recognizance on other charges and subsequently remanded into custody and later released. Steinbach RCMP currently have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
