A 29-year-old Oakview man has died after his snowmobile went over the edge of a ravine bank at a location southeast of Rivers, Manitoba.
On March 11, 2018, just after 5pm, officers from the Carberry RCMP detachment, along with the Rivers Police Service, responded to a report of a snowmobile collision that occurred in the RM of Riverdale on the Little Saskatchewan River. The collision occurred approximately 15 kilometres southeast of Rivers near Provincial Road 270.
Police say that a 29-year-old Oakview man was traveling north in the trail system when it appears he drove over the edge of a ravine bank, dropping approximately 20 metres and landing on the frozen river below. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
RCMP report that the deceased was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and it is unknown if alcohol or speed played a factor.
