On September 7, 2016, at approximately 9:30pm, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence located on Ferland Bay in Lorette, Manitoba. Observation of the property gave police grounds to believe that a large scale clandestine marijuana grow operation was inside the building.
Officers entered the residence without incident and seized two pounds of processed dried marijuana, 123 plants in various stages of growth and drug paraphernalia.
RCMP report that 54-year-old Dean Nault and 30-year-old Fawn Fontaine, both residing at the residence, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the CDSA.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner attended the scene and has deemed the dwelling unsafe for habitation.
