RCMP Police Dog Enzo and his handler assisted Falcon Lake RCMP in locating three suspects involved in a recent truck theft incident.
On May 2, 2018, just before 10pm, Falcon Lake RCMP received a report of a female on the west side of the Trans-Canada Highway had flagged down a passing motorist asking for assistance with a vehicle stuck in the bush. The location was just west of Provincial Road 308 in the RM of Reynolds, Manitoba.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located a pickup truck stuck in the mud on the other side of the tree line. The truck had been reported stolen out of Winnipeg and subsequently the 18-year-old female was placed under arrest for possession of stolen property.
Police determined that three other people had been with female suspect inside the vehicle. Officers called for RCMP Police Dog Services to assist in locating the remaining occupants.
RCMP Police Dog Enzo and his handler attended the scene, and Enzo immediately picked up a track. Approximately two kilometres away in the wooded area on the north side of the highway, Enzo located two males hiding under a tree. As a result, a 36-year-old male and a 35-year-old male were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
RCMP report that while suspects were placed in the police vehicle, Enzo picked up another track and located a 26-year-old male who was hiding in long grass. He was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. The 36-year-old and 35-year-old males also have numerous outstanding warrants with the Winnipeg Police Service.
Police noted that all suspects in this incident are from Winnipeg.
