On May 12, 2018, at approximately 11:30am, Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded to a call of a possible drowning in Nopiming Provincial Park.
When officers arrived at the Tulabi Falls Campground, Emergency Medical Services personnel were already on scene providing medical assistance to a three-year-old male child from Winnipeg. The child was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary police investigation determined that the 3-year-old child, who was camping in the area with family, was playing with a group of children in the campground when he wandered away. His absence was quickly noticed and he was found a short time later by family members in a nearby body of water. Family members provided medical assistance to the child until first responders arrived.
RCMP report that the death is not considered to be suspicious and the investigation is ongoing.
