A six-year-old St. Malo boy has died from injuries sustained in a recent vehicle collision on Highway 52 in the RM of Hanover.
On May 31, 2018 at approximately 5:40pm, officers from the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 52, at the intersection with Provincial Road 216, in the RM of Hanover.
Investigators determined that a vehicle, being driven by a 23-year-old female from the RM of Hanover, was traveling east on Highway 52 when she collided with a westbound vehicle. The westbound vehicle was being driven by a 26-year-old St. Malo woman who was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto PR216.
Police say that the 26-year-old female driver was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and her six-year-old son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old female driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
RCMP report that on June 11, 2018, the six-year-old passenger succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision.
Officers from the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP Detachment along with an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
